Health and Experience Requirements
Everest Base Camp Trek is a difficult trip suitable for passionate adventurers who have ability to walk at least 6-7 hours a day with a light day pack. In some days we might even need to walk more hours. Walking in higher altitude is physically demanding than walking in the lower altitudes; however, those in excellent physical condition with above average fitness and some hiking experience can do this trek. Positive attitude, self-confidence and strong determination are things that aid to accomplish trip successfully. Exercising and jogging regularly for some weeks prior of the trip are good idea to enhance strength and stability.
It is a condition upon trips that all clients be insured for comprehensive expenses that might incur due to medical issues or accidents (this includes air ambulance, helicopter rescue, and treatment costs). Please note that we don't arrange or sell insurance.
'Everest Base Camp Trek' itinerary is planned with a high degree of awareness of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). Going up at higher altitudes too fast causes a medical condition serious enough to result in death. The higher the altitude, the less oxygen will be in the air. For example, at an altitude above of 5000m, there is 50% less oxygen than at sea level. Therefore, our body needs many days to adapt to an environment with less oxygen. Itineraries generally allow sufficient time to acclimatize. So, for a safe trek, it is absolutely essential to allow sufficient time for acclimatization. Sensible planning is therefore required to minimize the risk of AMS. Mild headaches, fever, loss of appetite or stomach disorders are symptoms of AMS.
Upon Arrival, in Kathmandu Airport you will be expected to complete your custom formalities (Visa etc.) We suggest you look for our representative who will be waiting for you at the arrival gate with Everest View Treks and Expedition display board with your name you will then be transferred to hotel 3 star categories. Include meal B/B.
30 minutes flight, 3 – 4 hrs treks from domestic terminal of Kathmandu Airport for an early morning flight to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft), a gateway destination from where our trek begins. After an adventurous 40 minute flight above the breathtaking green and white mountains, we reach the Tenzing-Hillary Airport at Lukla. This is one of the most beautiful air routes in the world culminating in a dramatic landing on a hillside surrounded by high mountains peaks. Upon arrival at Lukla, we meet our other crew members and after some packing and arrangements, we start our trek through the prosperous village of Lukla until we reach Phakding. To assist in acclimatization, we only have a short hike today. However, if interested in additional activities we can take a side trip to a nearby monastery. Overnight in Phakding Basic lodge. Included meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (B, L, D).
Today’s trek: Our trek starts in the morning after breakfast. The walk today is pleasant with few short uphill and downhill with multiple crossings over Dudh Koshi River and magnificent view of Mt. Thamserku (6,608m/21,675ft) from the Benkar village. We cross more bridges and reach entrance of Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo, where our trekking permits are checked in order to keep record of trekkers and local trekking staffs as well. A descend and a gradual walk brings us to Jorsale, the last village until Namche Bazaar. The walk is enjoyable through the river bed and we reach Hillary Suspension Bridge. Now, as we climb up hill towards Namche Bazzar, closer and magnificent sight of Kwangde Peak, its sister peaks, Kusum Kangaru, Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Tawache, and many other fabulous mountains will be viewed closely. We stop at Chautara to admire the view. Finally, we reach the colorful village of Namche Bazzar, the main gateway of Khumbu region. Overnight in Guest house include meal.(B,L,D).
Namche Bazaar. This is the first of the three scheduled “acclimatization” days. Health experts always recommend us to stay active and moving during the rest days instead of being idle. We either spend the day taking a day hike to Khumjung visiting Khunde or relaxing and exploring Namche Bazaar itself. If we trek a few hundred vertical feet during the day, it will help us to properly acclimatize. Your guides will take us to the Tourist Visitor Center near the headquarter of the Sagarmatha National Park where we can observe an assortment of things related to the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture and learn about the various plant and animal life of the Everest region. Namche Bazaar is the main center of the Everest (Khumbu) region and has government offices, ATMs, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants, a bakery and a colorful market each Friday evening and Saturday. If we trek a few hundred vertical feet during the day, it will help us to properly acclimatize. Overnight in guest house Bazaar. Include meal (B, L D).
Today the trail at first slightly climb up for a while up to the Chor camp at Namche Bazaar then continue easy level walk to kyangjuma 3550m. Everest (8848), Lhotse (8516m), Lhotse shar (8382m), Nuptse (7879m), peak- 38(7591m), Ama dablam (6856m), Thamserku (6623m), Kangtega (6783m), Kusum kangaru (6367), Cholaste (6335m), Tabuche peak (6495m), Khumbi La (5765m) and Kwangde Ri (6011m). From kyangjuma the trail follows for a while easy level walk through Rhododendron forest to sanasa .There is two way from where one way left hand side leads to the Gokyo valley trek and another way right hand side leads to the direct Everest base camp trek. From sanasa the trail descends gradually through pine forest to lausasa where there are a few teahouses aftermath the trail drops steeply through the pine and Rhododendron forest to Phungi thanga, a small settlement on the river banks of the Dudh kosi at 3250m. The trail climbs steeply at beginning then a gradual ascent through blue pine and Rhododendron forest at the hill top of Tengboche Monastery at 3867m. The view of sunset and sunrise as well as magnificent view of the Mt. Everest including other Himalayas form Tengboche probably most amazing during your treks. Today is an essential day as it is the second and last acclimatization day of the trek (you may remember the first of which was at Namche Bazaar). As we did the previous time, we will use the day to reach a higher altitude and then return to Dingboche to spend the night. One famous saying in high-altitude mountaineering is “Climb high, sleep low”, which means it is wise, and sometimes even essential (while ascending more than 305m 1,000ft at an altitude of above 3,050m /10,000 ft) to sleep at a lower altitude than the highest point reached during the day. This is the first step of our acclimatization hike, the Nangkartshang Hermitage, where many trekkers choose to stop. Given that we are always looking for more exceptional views and those we are feeling relatively well overall, we decide to push on and reach the summit. Or back to hotel Overnight at guest house include meal B/L/D

We retrace the original steps of our ascent as we make our way back down the mountain again. The fascinating culture of the Sherpa’s is on display once more – don’t miss a peak at the yak-herding namche mainly downhill, although it does, counter intuitively, require an hour scaling a hill. We’ll be in Namche by late afternoon and off to bed before our second last day on the mountain Overnight at Guest house include meal B/L/D.
After breakfast, we trek toward the Hillary Suspension Bridge and then pass through several local villages. Our arrival in Lukla brings an evening in a proper hotel and, traditionally, a party with your trekking crew: you made it! Thanks to great teamwork and perseverance, you’ve accomplished a physical feat of which others only dream. This is your last night on the mountain, which can be bittersweet Overnight at Guest house include meal B/L/D.
In the morning, you’ll flight from Lukla to Kathmandu, where your journey both began and ends. You’ll transfer to your hotel upon landing for some much-needed solo rest and reflection after your trek conquering the Himalayas. We’ll reunite in the evening for a farewell dinner at one of the best Nepalese restaurants in town, where we’ll be eager to hear your feedback on the trip. Stay hotel include B/B. and farewell Dinner.
You are saying good bye to the mountains as your journey finishes from Nepal. We hope you enjoyed the tour with us, and are sure you will be back in another trip somewhere in the Himalayas again.
