Khaptad National Park Trekking: Unexplored Beauty in Far Western Nepal

Khaptad National Park (3,000m) lies in the remote and pristine far-western region of Nepal, at the junction of Bajhang, Bajura, Doti, and Achham districts in the Seti Zone. Despite its natural splendor, this area remains largely unexplored by foreign trekkers, offering an off-the-beaten-path experience in Nepal.

Discover Khaptad National Park's Rich Ecosystem

Established in 1984, Khaptad National Park is home to an extraordinary ecosystem. Trekking in Khaptad allows you to witness a diverse range of vegetation, from subtropical forests in the lower altitudes to temperate forests on the Khaptad plateau. The park is rich in flora and fauna, including over 224 species of medicinal herbs, about 11% of Nepal's flowering plants, and a variety of wildlife. You'll also encounter more than 270 species of birds, along with oak and rhododendron forests in the higher elevations.

The Spiritual Legacy of Khaptad Baba

Khaptad is not only known for its natural beauty but also for its spiritual significance. It was the meditation ground of the revered Khaptad Baba, a legendary spiritual master and philosopher. His teachings on social and religious philosophy continue to inspire visitors seeking a spiritual journey in this serene wilderness.

Extend Your Journey to Ramaroshan

Just beyond Khaptad lies another hidden gem – Ramaroshan, a region known for its 12 picturesque lakes and 18 verdant pastures, locally called "Patans." From the hilltops of Ramaroshan, trekkers can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Mount Api, Mount Saipal, and Mount Malika. The area is also famous for its unbroken series of natural sedimentary rock formations, a geological wonder gifted by nature.
