Upper Dolpo is one of the least explored and hidden gems of the Himalayan region in Nepal. Upper Dolpo Trek is a remote, high-altitude trek that offers breathtaking landscapes, rich cultural experiences, and a sense of adventure. The trek is located in the northwestern part of Nepal and is famous for its crystal-clear lakes, snow-capped peaks, and unique culture.

The upper Dolpo Trek Itinerary will take you through the heart of the Dolpo region and offer a chance to explore the traditional villages and interact with the local people. The trek starts from the town of Juphal and takes you to the isolated village of Shey Phoksundo, where you will get to experience the unspoiled beauty of the region. The upper Dolpo Trek Route passes through lush forests, high mountain passes, and hidden valleys, making it a perfect destination for trekkers looking for a unique adventure.

One of the most notable features of the Upper Dolpo Trek is the Shey Phoksundo National Park, which is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. You will be able to see blue sheep, Himalayan black bears, and snow leopards, making it a popular destination for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. Upper Dolpo Trekking Trail will take you to lovely Ringmo village from where a short hike will take you to Shey Phoksundo Lake, which is located at 3,611 meters above sea level. This lake is surrounded by high hills and Mt. Kanjiroba at a far distance. Likewise, you will visit the Shey Gompa, an ancient monastery.

Upper Dolpo Trekking will take you back in time. As the region is very remote, you will find people living their lives as they used to live hundreds of years ago. Upper Dolpo is highly influenced by Tibetan culture and tradition. The lifestyle, language, dishes, festivals, and beliefs of locals are the same as Tibetans. During your journey, you will come across several gompas and monasteries that will present you with pre-Buddhism Bon Po and Chaiba culture. The entire region is not touched by modernity yet, therefore, you will get to experience the raw beauty of nature and human life during Upper Dolpo Trek.

Upper Dolpo Trek Itinerary is a challenging one, with high altitude and rough terrain, but the rewards are well worth it. The scenic beauty of the region is simply breathtaking, and the cultural experiences will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime. To fully enjoy the Upper Dolpo Trek, it is important to be well-prepared. Make sure you have the necessary gear, such as a warm sleeping bag, a good pair of trekking shoes, and a sturdy backpack. It is also important to be physically fit and have a good level of endurance.

Your first day of the Upper Dolpo Trekking Package will start with a tour of Kathmandu Valley. The day before you set out on your trek, you will take a domestic aircraft from Kathmandu to Nepalganj, where you will spend the night before taking it out for Juphal. From Juphal, you will begin your major hike. You will travel to Dunai from Jhupal and spend the night in a tent camp. The next day, you will depart Dunai and travel to Ankhe through several tiny settlements and agricultural areas. The next day, the Upper Dolpo Trek will continue to Sulighat and finally Phoksundo Lake. To take in the scenery and adjust to the altitude, you will spend a day at Phoksundo Lake. You will hike to Upper Dolpo after spending a day at Phoksundo, where you will arrive at Phoksundo Bhanjyang after passing through a lovely meadow that opens up to the Phoksundo Khola floodplains. After crossing through Kang La Pass, you will arrive at Shey Gompa, which is your next stop. The spiritual center of Dolpo, Shey Gompa hamlet, will be your acclimatization location for one more day.

Upper Dolpo Trek will continue from Shey Gompa to Namduna Gaun, but to get there, you must pass the Saldang La (5200m) Pass. You will arrive at Saldang village and spend the next night there after spending the previous night in a tent camp in Namduna Gaun. Following the Nang Chu River northward, you will eventually arrive at Yangze Gompa, also known as Bon-Po Monastery, on your 15th day of hiking. You will follow your original route back from Yangze via Namduna Gaun to Saldang Village and eventually to Sibu. To get to the base of Jeng La Pass, you must go east after following Nam Khong Khola for around two hours after leaving Sibu. You will arrive in Tokyo Gaon the next morning after traversing the Jeng La Pass (5,090m). From the Upper Dolpo Trekking Trail, you can see Dhaulagiri and other mountains in stunning detail. You will depart from Tokyu Gaon and go east to the Buddhist-influenced region of Dho Tarap.

You will go for Tarap Khola from Dho Tarap after taking a day of relaxation. The route primarily descends before arriving at a gorge. If you are fortunate, the Upper Dolpo Trekking route will provide you with a chance to see Blue Sheep. Your next stop is Khanigaon, which you will reach after leaving Tarap Khola. The next morning, your walk begins from Kahnigaon to an ancient fortification called Tarakot. To go to Dunai village from Tarakot, you will first embark on a trail that primarily declines. You will travel back to Juphal from Dunai the next day. Your Upper Dolpo Trek itinerary concludes when you depart from Jhupal airport toward Kathmandu, the next morning after spending the night there and relaxing.
